Cycling

Besides martial arts my other great passion is cycling. I try and cycle everyday here, as we don’t have problems with the weather unless you count too much sun as a problem 🙂

Most Thai people cycle as a necessity to get from A to B, but we Farang like to ride recreationally. I have not had chance to go to Tapae Gate on a Sunday to see the market dedicated to cycling and parts etc, as we are usually busy at the time it’s on.

My current steed is a Japanese made folder because I don’t have a lot of space for a full size bike, but with its 6 speed Shimano indexed gears I have not had a problem getting in more than 10km a day and its comfy at that distance so much so that when I return to the UK I am looking at getting a folder! but it would have to be an Airnimal 🙂

We have a brompton dock now at Manchester Piccadilly train station so that might be good to try out a folder for a week and see how it agrees with the sort of stuff I would like to do, but really I think I would need a more sturdy bike and I am looking at a CX bike if possible as would like to try some CX in the winter months.
